Kill Devil Grill on the Outer Banks Never Disappoints

Kill Devil Grill Restaurant Outer Banks NC

I remember the first time I went to Kill Devil Grill. I had recently relocated back to the Outer Banks, and a close friend recommended that I try this Kill Devil Hills based restaurant, located near milepost 10 on beach road. My friend said the food was good, and I must say, after eating at Kill Devil Grill (on average) at least once a month since my first visit, good is an understatement.

The food at Kill Devil Grill is excellent, every time you go, lunch or dinner. Doesn’t matter what you order, it’s going to taste exceptionally delicious. Close your eyes and choose something entirely random off of the menu, chances are that you’re going to love it.

I once heard someone say that good food can’t overshadow poor service, but good service can make up for mediocre food. Fortunately for this restaurant, the service is always top-notch and the food never disappoints.

As you walk in or after you sit down, you are going to want to check out the specials menu. There are always at least five lunch and dinner specials that are creative, tasty, and memorable.

Typically most of the specials include some type of seafood – crab, shrimp, flounder, mahi-mahi – which is great because fresh, locally-sourced seafood is bountiful on the Outer Banks. Your server will always tell you what the specials are before you order, but you may prefer to read them off the chalkboard. (I certainly do!)

Kill Devil Grill Menu

For appetizer, I highly recommend the back yard wings. Yes, they are chicken wings and yes, they are scrumptious! Their menu says the wings are “rubbed, smoked, grilled and tossed in our soon to be famous sauce.”

No doubt, the sauce they use could one day be sold in grocery stores across nation, it’s so good! Please note that the wings do have a bit of a kick to them, but it is by no means overwhelming. Probably going to be difficult for you to want to share after you take your first bite.

For your entree, I’d recommend trying whatever sounds best. The chefs are terrific, and you really can’t go wrong. I typically order something off the specials menu, or the barbecue ribs or fish sandwich.

And don’t forget dessert! The key lime pie is amazing, as is the chocolate chip pecan pie and the apple crisp. If you want something to share with a significant other, go with the apple crisp.

Arrive early and bring a friend! Kill Devil Grill won’t disappoint. If you don’t believe me, check out the hundreds of rave reviews on TripAdvisor.
